Riaan and Michelle Garforth-Venter were no strangers to the small screen when they shared their dream home project with viewers on the Home Channel series Love and Mortar.
Home’s DIY guru and his wife did thorough research on every aspect of building a sustainable home and garden. From planning and designing to building and decorating, all their decisions were made based on environmentally friendly practices. ‘With some extra effort on our part, our homes can provide us with a space that connects us to the pleasures of the natural world, keeping us in touch with the seasons and providing our families with a buffer against our fast-paced lives,’ explains Michelle, adding that ecofriendly homes are cleaner and more cost effective, offsetting the initial high costs of building green. And the couple’s modern tribute to a biologically sound home proves that ecofriendly can also ooze style and glamour.
