I don’t think there’s a person on this planet that loves a neutral palette more than me, but every now and then you need a splash of colour to brighten up your space. So, if you are anything like me and don’t want to be too daring – try adding new hues with smaller items such as these goodies that caught my eye this week.

Coloured glass containers are always handy – use them as vases or as is, in just about every room in your house. Play with various shapes, sizes and finishes to add a touch of texture. These are from Mr Price Home and under R50.

No home should be without a couple of these cubes. They are light so are easy to move around but sturdy enough to use as seating, a side table and group a few to create a coffee table. Get them at R99.99 each in a variety of colours from Mr Price Home.

Add some colour to your kitchen with colourful utensils – from ice cream scoops to pastry brushes! These plastic ones are from Home etc and are under R20 a piece.

I had to share this with you – just because it’s pretty! Smaller hearts under R50 and bigger hearts under R100 from Loads of Living. You can add some love indoors and outdoors with these beauties.

This is possibly one of my all time favourite inventions. The lap tray – if you don’t have one yet, please get one. The bottom of the tray is like a beanbag so it can stand on just about any surface. If you have kids this tray will make life just a touch more convenient. It also makes a great gift – I got one for my grandmother a while ago. So far I’ve only ever seen them at Home etc. This one is under R150.

It may only be March but I can already feel the chill in the evening air. This pretty fuchsia ripple throw from Truworths Living is soft and plush and ideal for nights on the couch. Get it for under R300.

Ah yes! The scatter cushion, décor’s ultimate accessory! So many too choose from, all equally stunning and so little space to put them. What to do? Here are some of my favourites this week. The top one is from Mr Price Home’s Love RSA range – it’s bright and beautiful and only R99. The middle striped rectangle scatter is on sale now at Loads of Living – its been marked down to R159. The Africa cushion is also from Mr Price Home and though not very bright it’s just a beauty to add to your collection and at R99 it’s a steal.
