Col’Cacchio pizzeria Celebrity Chéf Series is an annual charity event that has three top chéfs creating one sublime pizza per month; Jackie Cameron (Hartford House KwaZulu-Natal) took the stage in May, Coco Reinarhz (Sel et Poivre Gauteng) in June and Chris Erasmus (Pierneef à la Motte Franschhoek) in July. The culinary twist for August is that all Col’Cacchio pizzeria fans were invited to test their pizza-making skills and take part in the Celebrity Chef Series by posting their winning combinations on www.colcacchio.co.za. The winning pizza was announced this week by Benny Masekwameng and Chris Erasmus Announce. And the winner is…
Jessica Comninos. Her Liu Loren Pizza is the Celebrity Chef Pizza and it combines a tomato base, mozzarella, Asian-marinated chicken, oven caramelised apricots and fresh thyme, with a topping of spring onion, fresh coriander and a drizzle of honey soy and orange reduction.

Come and enjoy the culinary creations from Chris Erasmus and Jessica Comninos over July and August and do your bit for charity deliciously. With the donation of R5 per Celebrity Chef Pizza sold, Col’Cacchio pizzeria is hoping to add a notable amount to the R85 910 already raised for the Children’s Hospital Trust, fundraiser for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and Paediatric Healthcare in the Western Cape.

Assistant Food Editor, Johané Neilson, chatted to Chef Chris Erasmus about his creation, the Liplekker Ribbetjie pizza at the event. The pizza combines a bechamel base infused with roasted garlic and rosemary and topped with mozzarella, smoked and braised lamb ribs, caramelised onion, pears poached in port, fresh rocket and a sprinkling of rosemary salt.”
